Your Link in Bio Is Working Against You (And How to Fix It)

Most creators waste their link in bio. Here is how to turn it into a real conversion tool.

The Most Underused Real Estate on the Internet

Your link in bio is the one place on most social platforms where you can send people somewhere. Every caption that says "link in bio" is a bet on that page converting.

Most link-in-bio pages are a disaster.

Common Mistakes

1. Too many options

A link page with 12 links is a link page that converts nothing. Every additional option dilutes the most important action. Have a primary CTA, then secondary ones.

2. No hierarchy

Everything shouldn't look the same. What's your #1 goal right now? That link should look different from the others.

3. No context

Just a list of links tells the visitor nothing. A short line of context ("Start here 👇") guides them.

4. Never updated

Your link in bio is still promoting a podcast episode from eight months ago. If you wouldn't put it in your newest post, don't let it sit in your link page.

5. No brand

Generic link pages signal that you don't take your online presence seriously. Your link page should feel like you.

What a High-Converting Link Page Looks Like

  • One primary button (your most important current action) at the top
  • 2–4 supporting links below
  • A short bio (1–2 lines) that answers "who is this person and why should I care"
  • Your actual face or brand image — not a logo on a white background
  • Colors and fonts that match your brand
  • What to Put First

This changes based on your current priority. If you're launching a product, that's first. If you're growing an email list, that's first. If you have a free tool that converts to paid, that's first.

The mistake is building a permanent link page and never moving things around. Treat it like a landing page you're actively optimizing.
