How to Repurpose One Blog Post Into 10 Social Media Posts

You've already done the hard work writing a great post. Here's how to squeeze 10 social media posts out of it — without copying and pasting.

The Repurposing Mindset

A blog post is a content mine. Once you've done the research and writing, you should be able to extract social posts for weeks. Here's the system.

1. Pull the Key Quote

Find the most quotable sentence in your post. That's a standalone post. Share it with a link back to the full article.

2. Turn Each Header Into a Standalone Tip

If your blog post has five headers, you have five posts. Take each section's main point and rewrite it as a self-contained tip.

3. Write a Thread

Summarize the post's key insights as a thread. 5–8 posts, each one standalone but building on the last. Threads get shared — single posts less so.

4. Ask a Question From Your Post

Turn your post's premise into a question for your audience. Questions drive engagement and surface real audience insights.

5. Flip the Angle

Take your post's main argument and argue the opposite. Contrarian takes get attention.

6. Share a Stat or Data Point

If your post cites a statistic, share it as a standalone post with brief context. Data posts get saved and shared.

7. Create a "Quick Summary" Post

"Just published: [post title]. Here are the 3 takeaways in 30 seconds:" — then bullet the main points. Drives traffic and adds value for people who won't click through.

8. Behind-the-Scenes Post

"Here's why I wrote this piece" — share the motivation or the question you were trying to answer.

9. Turn a Step Into a Micro-Tutorial

Pick one actionable step from your post and walk through it in detail as a standalone how-to.

10. A Week Later: Reshare With New Context

A week after publishing, share the post again with a new angle: "Most people who read this were surprised by #3. Here's why it matters."

Schedule All 10 Across Platforms

Once you've written your 10 posts, schedule them across Bluesky, Mastodon, X, and wherever your audience is. SocialMate handles the distribution so you can focus on the next piece.
